What are international relations and its importance?

International relations can defined as way how different nations interaction among themselves on various issues. It enables cooperation and coordination among countries. How can international relations help in achieving sustainable development goals?

How can international relations in promotion of sustainability?

Its aim is to identify and exchange key insights to analyses and understand the strategic challenges associated with sustainable development in global terms. Sustainable development is growth that meets the needs of the present, but without compromising the ability of future generation’s needs. Institutionalized with 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, sustainable development goals are milestones that every country seek to achieve by 2030. It encompasses 3 core elements: Environmental Sustainability, Social Sustainability and Economic Sustainability With help of international relations, to achieve the all the 17 SDGs, a partnership network can be established with countries in order to better understand and exchange different perspectives of sustainability issues and governance. Internationally, efforts have been ongoing since the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio, which gave birth to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other agreements like International solar alliance (ISA).

The UN summits are result if effective international relations, where all countries come on single stage to discuss the ideas and actions related to sustainable development. It involves raising funds, dialogues, technology for cleaner and greener planet. . The Paris agreement of 2015 showed that a number of countries were able to agree on the concrete goals, targets, and policies needed to address the fast-moving and influential changes of global environment.

On economic front, many countries engage in trade negotiations and deals to aid each other in poverty alleviation, building better infrastructure etc. There is multiple multilateral organization that provides soft loans or easy credits to other nations like ADB (Asian Development Bank), NDB (New Development Bank) etc.
